Kids & Teens Weekly Sewing Program
Weekly sewing classes where kids build real skills, finish projects they're proud of, and find their people. Community matters for kids just as much as adults, and seeing the same friendly faces each week is a big part of why students keep coming back.
- Start with the Intro Class. Every new student begins with a 2.5-hour intro class covering machine basics, studio safety and foundational skills, and makes their first small project. We run two intro classes every month. The intro class is $75, or $50 with code PREREQ25 at checkout.
- Pick a weekly spot and start right away. Choose one of the class times above, and your child can begin the very next week after their intro class. They'll join that same class each week, in a small group with a 4:1 student-to-teacher ratio.
- Simple monthly tuition. $150 + HST per month, billed automatically on the 2nd of each month.
- Missed a week? Complimentary makeup classes are available throughout the year.
- Flexible cancellation. Cancel with at least 2 weeks' notice before your next billing date. Full details are on the program page at mainfabric.com.
“My almost-eleven-year-old daughter is head over heels in love with this sewing class. She looks forward to it all week. So glad to have found an after-school activity where she can relax, work at her own pace, learn a practical skill, and even be creative.”
“My 7 year old daughter is having the best time in the kids weekly sewing classes. She is very excited each week for her class, and is extremely proud of the projects that she has made. Highly recommend this program for young creatives!”
“Great space and super fun and engaging projects for kids. My daughter is excited to keep progressing levels so she can make new projects.”
Sewing Camps
Creative days for kids when school is out. Campers sew finished projects start to finish, make friends at the next table, and head home with something they made themselves.
- Ages 7–14, usually 9:00am – 3:00pm
- The prerequisite Intro Class is required before the camp start date
- Projects are announced a couple of months before each camp
- All supplies and sewing machines provided, and every project comes home
- 10% off when you book 3+ spots (multiple dates or siblings)
- Small class sizes, and spots fill quickly, so book early
Adult Learn-to-Sew Program
One of our most popular programs, and a flexible, skill-building way to learn to sew that's designed for real life. It works around your schedule, with a step-by-step curriculum built specifically for adults. More than 200 sewers have already learned with us in Block 1.
You'll learn to use a sewing machine with confidence and make creative projects you're proud of. Our curriculum is designed for beginners and nervous sewers alike, taking you from your very first stitch to a skilled, capable sewer, one project at a time.
- Each block has two projects: a non-garment piece and a garment. Every block takes six 2-hour sessions with an instructor to complete, booked around your schedule.
- Your skills grow block by block: each project builds on what you learned in the one before. We've developed four blocks so far, with more on the way.
- Put your new skills to work on a small project you'll take home
- Runs twice a month on set dates and times
- Choose your preferred date at checkout
- Offered 4–5 times per week, like a yoga class schedule
- No set day or time: book whichever class fits your week
- You manage your own schedule and book sessions as you go, or all at once
- Add Block 1 and the Intro Class to your cart. Choose your preferred Intro Class date at checkout, and save $25 by booking them together.
- Plan your sessions, whenever suits you. You'll receive your personal booking link after checkout, so you can book, cancel and reschedule on your own. Book all six now, or one at a time as your weeks unfold.
- Come to your Intro Class. Learn to use a sewing machine and get your own personalized progress folder.
- Start sewing! Begin attending your scheduled sessions and work through your two projects with an instructor by your side. Gain sewing confidence with every session.
- Celebrate your new skills! Finish your two projects, then carry your new skills into Block 2, where you'll take on new techniques and more ambitious makes.
“Such a wonderful class! I have some sewing experience but not a lot of confidence – this class was a perfect introduction and reminder. I loved the pace of it and felt like I could really practice and focus, while still walking away with a project. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to start sewing.”
“Wonderful intro to sewing. Instructors were kind, knowledgeable, and well prepared. The instructors were uniquely attentive and flexible, allowing us to modify designs and work on our projects at our own pace. Looking forward to our next class!”
“This was a fantastic course! The instructors, Nakita and Heather, did a great job of teaching everything in a very logical, easy to follow process. The space is great, clean and organized, and the machines are well maintained and easy to use for a beginner like myself. Am looking forward to the next Block!”
Seasonal Workshops
Project-based workshops for the season, great for sewers with some experience. Come in, learn a technique, and leave with a finished piece. Complimentary studio machines are provided, or bring your own.
Sewing Clinics
Bring the clothes you already own and give them a second life. Clinics are relaxed, instructor-supported studio time rather than a lecture, so you work on your own pieces at your own pace, with help right beside you.
Creative visible mending and simple invisible repairs, like holes, torn seams, worn spots and patches, done mostly by hand in a relaxed, social atmosphere. No previous sewing experience required.
Hem, take in, swap a zipper or transform a piece you no longer wear, with one-on-one help from two instructors. Requires Adult Learn-to-Sew Block 1 or equivalent experience.
