Adult Learn-To-Sew Program - BLOCK 1

Start your sewing journey with Block 1 of our Adult Learn to Sew program—a beginner-friendly, flexible course designed to help you feel confident behind the machine.

In this 6-session block, you’ll learn essential sewing techniques while completing two projects: a cozy quilted pillow to practice your precision and structure, and a pair of PJ pants or shorts to introduce you to garment sewing. These projects are designed to teach the basics in a hands-on, encouraging environment—so you leave with real skills and things you’re proud to say you made.

This block is all about building your confidence. You’ll learn to thread and operate a machine, sew straight and curved seams, cut fabric accurately, follow beginner sewing patterns, and work independently—with guidance from our experienced instructors every step of the way.

Included with your course fee:

• 6 instructor-led drop-in sessions (2 hours each)

• Materials for your first project (the quilted pillow)

• 15% off supplies for your PJ pants/shorts project

• Personalized progress folder to track your learning

• Access to 3–4 session times per week to fit your schedule

• Use of equipment and tools available at the studio (including sewing machines)

How it works:

1. Purchase Block 1

   Add the Adult Learn to Sew – Block 1 program to your cart.
   Don’t forget to add the Adult Learn-to-Sew Intro Class (Prerequisite Class) at a discounted price, and choose your preferred date for that class during checkout.
   *if you have already taken Intro to Machine Sewing at Main Fabric do not add the pre-requiste class yet, contact us at info@mainfabric.com to see if you are eligible for a greater discount.
   
   

2. Schedule Your Sessions
   

   Once you’ve checked out, you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to schedule your Adult Learn-to-Sew - Block 1 dates (you have 6 available to book)
   Note: You can schedule all your dates right away—but your first Block 1 session must take place after you've completed the prerequisite class.
   
   

3. Attend Your Prerequisite Class
   

   This is where your sewing journey begins! You’ll learn how to confidently use a sewing machine, and receive your personalized progress folder—your roadmap for the projects ahead.

Looking for a smaller commitment?

If you’re unsure about learning to sew, starting with the Intro Class (Prerequisite) is a great way to test the waters. But if you’re ready to build this valuable skill, book both the Intro Class and Adult Learn-to-Sew to receive a $25 discount.

Don't forget to add your workshop dates to your calendar as soon as you have registered. About a week prior to your workshop you will receive an email outlining further details of the workshop including what you will learn, what you need to bring, and our cancellation policy. The email will also include our class waiver that will need to be signed online prior to attending the workshop.

At the studio we allow water and light snacks around the cutting table and sewing machines, other types of drinks and larger snacks can be enjoyed in our store sitting area. Cell phones, devices are great learning tools, you are welcome to bring and use them.

Full payment of the workshop is required at the time of registration to reserve your spot. Participants must be 14 years of age or older to participate on their own in the workshop unless otherwise stated. Participants between the ages of 14-17 must have a parent or guardian sign their liability waiver. Participants between the ages 8 - 13 years of age can participate in the workshop as long as a paying adult participating as well. 

Cancellation policy 

• Full Refund: Available for cancellations made more than 7 days before the workshop date.
• 50% Refund or Transfer: For cancellations made between 3 to 7 days prior to the workshop, you have the option of receiving a 50% refund or transferring your spot to the next available workshop. If there is no complimentary workshop you will receive a 50% refund. 
• No Refund/Transfer: Cancellations within 48 hours of the workshop date will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.

DEBUT workshops are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

Workshop spots are transferable, if you are unable to make your workshop, send a friend! Call or text us to let us know of the switch.
