Our Sewing Membership
All levels of sewers are welcome to take advantage of a sewing membership at Main Fabric. Your membership gives you unlimited access to the equipment, tools, and space you need to complete your sewing projects.
- Drop-in during store hours, no reservations required
- Equipment incl. Pfaff Ambition 610 Sewing Machines, Irons, and Sergers (coming soon).
- Tools incl. Scissors, seam rippers, pins, chalk and marking tools, rulers and more.
- Early access to new fabrics, and store sales.
- "Open Sew" times and special events exclusive to members ie. evening and early morning open sewing + social sewing events.
FAQ
When can I come sew?
Members can come sew during store open hours. Drop-in during store hours, workstation and tools must be tided by store closing time.
Tues-Fri 10am - 6pm
Sat - Sun 10am - 4pm
How do I know if there is space for me? Can I make a reservation?
At this time we are not accepting reservations or bookings for our drop-in sewing. However, you are always welcome to call or text the store to check on capacity and space.
What is included in my membership?
Your membership grants you access to our workspace, tools, and equipment during store hours and exclusive member events.
Members have access to equipment such as sewing machines, irons, and sergers (coming soon), and cutting table. Members will have access to tools including but not limited to scissors, snips, seam rippers, marking tools & chalk, rulers, pins, and pattern weights.
What should I bring with me to sew?
The following items are not included in your membership:
- Sewing pattern and pattern instructions
- Fabric & Notions
- Thread
Do I need to know how to use a sewing machine?
Our sewing machines are shared and for the community to enjoy, for that reason we require all members to enrol in a short 45-min workshop called PFAFF Sewing 101. Members must complete this workshop prior to starting their membership, members who have complete our Intro to Machine Sewing workshop are exempt.
If you are just starting out, we recommend taking our beginner courses Garment Basics and Intro to Machine Sewing to give you the fundamentals you need to start sewing clothing.

Do I need to know how sew clothing?
No, the sewing membership gives you space and time to learn how to sew clothes at your own pace. The internet is a a great source for beginner sewers and with patience, practice, and a seam ripper anyone can sew clothes.
However, if you are really keen to fast track your knowledge and learn in-depth the steps required to make a garment that you love we recommend taking our Garment Basics course.

Will there be someone there to help me sew?
No, members are unsupervised during sewing time. Employees present in the store will be completing other tasks for the business including fulfilling orders, stocking inventory and engaging with customers. Employees may be available to help when they can. If you are looking for more guidance we can offer 1-on-1 sewing lessons. If you are interested please contact us for more information.
How can I sign up for the membership prerequisite courses?
As soon as you purchase our PFAFF Sewing 101 workshop you will be emailed by a member of our team within 24 hours to book a time slot that works for you.
Note - you must already be a sewing member (have purchased a membership) in order to take PFAFF Sewing 101. If you are unsure about purchasing online, come visit us in-store and we can answer any more questions you have.
How much is a sewing membership at Main Fabric?
Sewing memberships cost $60 per month, first sign-up is for 3 months minimum, after the first 3 months a month-to-month option can be put into place.
Currently, there is a promotion if you enrol in either Garment Basics OR our Intro to Machine Sewing workshops you will receive 3 months for $120 (a $180 value). If you have already attended one of these workshops, email us at info@mainfabric.com to receive your promo code.
I want to purchase now, but I don't want my membership term to start today.
Your membership will begin on the date that you take your PFAFF Sewing 101 course, or if you are exempt from PFAFF Sewing 101 then your membership will begin on your first day in the studio. Your membership will expire 3 months from the start date. If you have not begun the use of your membership within 1 month of purchase, your membership term will automatically begin and expiry 3 months from that point (4 months from purchase).
Is WIFI included?
Yes! WIFI is included but it is spotty.
