Give your favourite clothes a second life.
Our community mending clinic held monthly from Sept to June is a welcoming community gathering where you'll have dedicated time to finally tackle that growing pile of clothes waiting to be repaired. Whether you're patching a favourite pair of jeans, mending a sweater, repairing a torn seam, or experimenting with visible mending, our instructors are here to guide and support you every step of the way.
This is not a formal sewing class or a repair service. Instead, it's an instructor-supported open studio where you'll work at your own pace while learning new techniques, gaining confidence, and connecting with others who share a love of making clothes last.
Our focus is on creative and visible mending, while we're also happy to help with simple invisible repairs where appropriate. We can assist with repairs such as holes, torn seams, worn areas, darning socks, patching jackets, jeans, sweaters, and other everyday garments. If you're looking for hemming, replacing buttons or elastic, or other simple garment alterations, our Alterations Clinic is the better choice.

What to Bring
Please bring:
- Up to 3 garments or projects to mend
- Thread to match your projects
- Interfacing or other specialty supplies, if needed
- Any fabrics or patches you'd like to incorporate into your repairs
We'll provide a selection of hand-sewing tools, darning tools, inspiration books, and a collection of fabric scraps for creative mending.
Most repairs are completed by hand. If you'd like to use a sewing machine, you must have completed Main Fabric's Sewing Prerequisite Class or already be confident using a sewing machine independently.
Before the clinic, we'll send you a short questionnaire so we can learn about your projects and prepare for the session.
Join us for an afternoon or evening of slow stitching, creativity, and community as we help you give the clothes you love a second life.

The Main Fabric Studio is located at 64 Hatt St., Unit 102, Dundas, ON.
Parking is available in the gravel parking lot on the east side of the building. To access the lot, drive down the narrow gravel laneway that runs along the east side of the building (between our building and the Rexall). The parking lot is located at the end of the laneway.
Our entrance is on the lower level of the building, directly off the parking lot. Once inside, the Main Fabric Studio is straight down the hallway from the entrance.
