Instructors (contract position) 

Are you passionate about sewing and eager to share your knowledge and skills with others? Main Fabric is looking for an enthusiastic Workshop Instructor to lead engaging and educational sewing workshops. As a Workshop Instructor, you will play a vital role in helping participants of all skill levels develop their sewing talents and create beautiful garments and accessories.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, prep for sewing workshops, including selecting projects and creating lesson plans.
  • Deliver hands-on sewing instruction to participants with varying skill levels, from beginners to advanced.
  • Provide clear and detailed guidance on sewing techniques, fabric selection, and project execution.
  • Promote Main Fabric's commitment to provide a positive and inclusive learning environment where all participants feel welcome and encouraged.
  • Collaborate with the Main Fabric team to coordinate workshop schedules and marketing efforts.
  • Continuously improve and update workshop content based on feedback and industry trends.
  • Uphold Main Fabric's standards of customer service and professionalism.

  • Patience and the ability to work with participants of various skill levels.

  • Flexibility to accommodate workshop schedules, including evenings and weekends
  • Previous experience teaching sewing workshops or classes is highly desirable.

Kids Program Coordinator & Lead Instructor (Part-Time)

Do you love working with children and helping them build confidence through creativity? Are you highly organized, welcoming, and excited about being part of a growing small business? Main Fabric is looking for a Children's Program Coordinator & Lead Instructor to help lead and grow our children's sewing programs.

This role combines teaching, program coordination, parent communication, curriculum development, and studio organization. As one of the primary faces of our children's programs, you will play an important role in creating exceptional experiences for students, families, and instructors alike.

Job Responsibilities

  • Teach weekly children's and teen sewing classes.
  • Create a positive, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment for students of all skill levels.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and families during working hours.
  • Conduct welcome calls and onboarding conversations with new families.
  • Manage class rosters, attendance, waitlists, make-up requests, subscriptions, and cancellations.
  • Build positive relationships with students and families and help ensure a high-quality program experience.
  • Monitor student progress and help guide students through the curriculum at an appropriate pace.
  • Coordinate Summer Camps, PA Day Camps, March Break Camps, and other youth programming.
  • Assist with instructor onboarding, training, scheduling, and substitute coordination.
  • Create and sew project samples and assist with curriculum development and refinement.
  • Review project instructions and teaching materials to support program consistency.
  • Prepare instructor materials and classroom supplies.
    Maintain organization of children's program inventory, materials, and studio spaces.
  • Help develop and improve systems that support the growth of Main Fabric's children's programs.
  • Uphold Main Fabric's standards of customer service, professionalism, and community building.

Your skills and experience

  • A genuine love of working with children and families.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate sewing skills and a willingness to continue learning.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to support students with varying learning styles and abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A positive, adaptable, and growth-oriented mindset.
  • Previous teaching, camp, childcare, recreation, or youth program experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience coordinating programs, events, or administrative systems is considered an asset.

Job Details

  • Part-time salaried position, approximately 24 hours per week, with flexibility during camp weeks and special programming.
  • Required availability Sunday through Wednesday afternoons and evenings.
  • Additional hours may be available during Summer Camps and special programming.
