Our Kids & Teens Weekly Sewing Program is designed for young sewists ages 7–17 who want to build confidence, creativity, and practical sewing skills in a calm and supportive environment.
Whether your child has never touched a sewing machine or already has some experience, our progressive curriculum helps students develop sewing skills step-by-step while creating projects they are proud to take home and use.
At Main Fabric, we teach much more than sewing. Students learn how to follow multi-step instructions independently, problem-solve creatively, work patiently through challenges, and gain confidence in their own abilities. Many parents tell us they are surprised to see these skills transfer into other hobbies and activities at home.

Tuition and Deposit
A deposit is required to secure your child's spot in the program. This deposit is applied to your child's first month of tuition, which is typically September unless you are enrolling mid-year. Monthly subscription payments of $150 + HST begin on October 2nd and continue through May.
The sewing year runs from September through June and includes a total of 32 classes. Classes do not run on holidays or scheduled studio closures. See our calendar for more information.
Students may join mid-year if space is available.
New Students
All new students are required to complete the Kids & Teens Prerequisite Class before joining the weekly program.
During this 2.5-hour class, students learn:
- Sewing machine anatomy
- Sewing machine and studio safety
- Basic machine operation
- Foundational sewing skills
- Studio orientation and procedures
Students also complete a small beginner sewing project and gain the confidence needed to participate successfully in future classes, workshops, and camps.
We typically offer two or more prerequisite classes each month and additional dates throughout the summer. The prerequisite class can be added to your cart alongside your program registration.
Sewing Toolkit
Students attending the weekly sewing program are required to bring their own sewing toolkit.
All fabrics, thread, notions, patterns, and project materials are included in tuition. The only additional item students need is their personal sewing toolkit.
A curated Main Fabric Sewing Toolkit is available for purchase at a discounted enrollment price of $50 (regularly $65).
For complete details regarding attendance, cancellations, make-up classes, waitlists, and studio policies, please see our FAQ section.

Not at all! Our sewing programs are open and welcoming to children and teens of all genders. We offer a wide variety of projects throughout the year, including many unisex sewing patterns and garment options.
That said, we understand some boys may feel more comfortable joining a class where there are other boys participating as well. Because of this, we often recommend our Monday class option for families specifically looking for this type of environment.
All genders are welcome in every class offering. While students follow a progressive curriculum together, there are often a few garment or project variations available so students can choose options that best suit their style and comfort level.
A minimum of 2 weeks' notice is required to cancel your subscription and prevent the next monthly tuition payment from being processed.
Subscriptions can be managed through your account at any time. If you wish to cancel within 2 weeks of your next billing date, please contact us at info@mainfabric.com. If we are able to fill your child's spot from the waitlist, we may be able to offer a store credit for the upcoming month's tuition.
Registration Deposit
The registration deposit (which is applied to your child's first month of tuition) is non-refundable.
If you need to cancel before the program begins and we are able to fill your child's spot from the waitlist or through a new registration, we will provide a store credit for the deposit amount. Store credits are valid for one year from the date of issue.
Because class sizes are intentionally small and spaces are limited, we cannot guarantee refunds or credits unless the vacated spot is successfully filled.
