Intro to Block Printing

Discover the joy of custom fabric design in our Intro to Block Printing workshop, taught by Abigayle Rhodes, our multiple 5-star reviewed sewing instructor. This beginner-friendly course blends the traditional art of block printing with practical sewing skills to create beautiful, personalized linen napkins.

Over three engaging sessions, you’ll learn how to design and print your own patterns on fabric, then sew your creations into a thoughtful simple home accent or gift.

Thursday May 21st, 28th, and June 4th - 6:45pm - 8:45pm

Required pre-requisite:

• Adult learn-to-sew prerequisite course, or 
• Basic proficiency on a sewing machine

You should already know how to:

• Thread a sewing machine with some help
• Sew using straight stitches and zig-zag stitches  and techniques such as back stitching and edge stitching. 

You will learn:

• Traditional Block Printing Techniques – Use special carving tools and lino blocks to create works of art on fabric. Not an artist? That’s okay—everyone is surprised by what they can carve, and Erin is a master at making every student feel like one.

• Sewing a home accent or gift – Learn the skill of sewing something beautiful with your new fabric. Combined with your own block-printed patterns, they become truly one-of-a-kind pieces you will be proud to display. 

Included with your course fees:

• All materials and fabrics are included in the cost of the workshop, for the patchwork you can choose form our selection of scraps or bring your favorite scraps from home.
• 6 hours of expert in-studio instruction + use of premium tools and equipment including our brand NEW NECCHI Creator sewing machines

Don't forget to add your workshop dates to your calendar as soon as you have registered. About a week prior to your workshop you will receive an email outlining further details of the workshop including what you will learn, what you need to bring, and our cancellation policy. The email will also include our class waiver that will need to be signed online prior to attending the workshop.

At the studio we allow water and light snacks around the cutting table and sewing machines, other types of drinks and larger snacks can be enjoyed in our store sitting area. Cell phones, devices are great learning tools, you are welcome to bring and use them.

Full payment of the workshop is required at the time of registration to reserve your spot. Participants must be 14 years of age or older to participate on their own in the workshop unless otherwise stated. Participants between the ages of 14-17 must have a parent or guardian sign their liability waiver. Participants between the ages 8 - 13 years of age can participate in the workshop as long as a paying adult participating as well. 

Cancellation policy 

• Full Refund: Available for cancellations made more than 7 days before the workshop date.
• 50% Refund or Transfer: For cancellations made between 3 to 7 days prior to the workshop, you have the option of receiving a 50% refund or transferring your spot to the next available workshop. If there is no complimentary workshop you will receive a 50% refund. 
• No Refund/Transfer: Cancellations within 48 hours of the workshop date will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.

DEBUT workshops are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

Workshop spots are transferable, if you are unable to make your workshop, send a friend! Call or text us to let us know of the switch.
