Zip It! - Part 1 - Essential Zipper Techniques

Ever struggled with zippers? You're not alone—and this hands-on workshop is here to change that! In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to confidently sew three essential types of zippers:

• Visible/Closed (centered)
• Invisible

• Practical zipper insertion with facing or a lapped zipper (perfect for side skirt or pant openings)

You’ll work through a series of prepared fabric samples, practicing each method step by step with plenty of guidance. No need to bring anything—all materials are included.

Prerequisite - Intro Class (Prerequisite) Learn-to-Sew

You should already know how to:

• Make a simple project using a sewing machine
• Thread a sewing machine and use it confidently
• Sew using straight stitches and zig-zag stitches

You will learn:

• Master three essential zipper techniques — Learn how to confidently install centered, invisible, and lapped/facing installed zipper using step-by-step methods.
• Build foundational skills for garments and accessories — Gain the know-how to apply zipper techniques to everything from handmade clothing to pouches and bags.

Included with your course fees:

• All materials are included in the cost of the course, take all of your samples home with you.
• 2.5 hours of expert in-studio instruction + use of premium tools and equipment

Don't forget to add your workshop dates to your calendar as soon as you have registered. About a week prior to your workshop you will receive an email outlining further details of the workshop including what you will learn, what you need to bring, and our cancellation policy. The email will also include our class waiver that will need to be signed online prior to attending the workshop.

At the studio we allow water and light snacks around the cutting table and sewing machines, other types of drinks and larger snacks can be enjoyed in our store sitting area. Cell phones, devices are great learning tools, you are welcome to bring and use them.

Full payment of the workshop is required at the time of registration to reserve your spot. Participants must be 14 years of age or older to participate on their own in the workshop unless otherwise stated. Participants between the ages of 14-17 must have a parent or guardian sign their liability waiver. Participants between the ages 8 - 13 years of age can participate in the workshop as long as a paying adult participating as well. 

Cancellation policy 

• Full Refund: Available for cancellations made more than 7 days before the workshop date.
• 50% Refund or Transfer: For cancellations made between 3 to 7 days prior to the workshop, you have the option of receiving a 50% refund or transferring your spot to the next available workshop. If there is no complimentary workshop you will receive a 50% refund. 
• No Refund/Transfer: Cancellations within 48 hours of the workshop date will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.

DEBUT workshops are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

Workshop spots are transferable, if you are unable to make your workshop, send a friend! Call or text us to let us know of the switch.
