Introduction to Quilting (create a mini-quilt)

This beginner-friendly course, taught by Erin Gilkes, our multiple 5-star reviewed sewing instructor, is the perfect starting point. You’ll create your very own mini quilt while learning the core techniques every quilter needs—cutting, piecing, pressing, quilting, and binding. Along the way, Erin will share essential tips and tricks to help your work look clean, professional, and polished from the start.

Mini quilts may be small, but they’re mighty—perfect as artistic wall hangings, stylish placemats, or even fancy coasters. The possibilities are endless, and this is just the beginning of your quilting journey.

Join us:

Thursday October 16th, 23rd, 30th - 7:30pm-9:30pm

Required pre-requisite:

• Adult learn-to-sew prerequisite course, or 
• Basic proficiency on a sewing machine

You should already know how to:

• Thread a sewing machine with some help
• Sew using straight stitches and zig-zag stitches  and techniques such as back stitching and edge stitching. 

You will learn:

• Precision Piecing – Learn how to cut and sew fabric pieces accurately so your quilt blocks come together cleanly and evenly.

• Quilting and Binding Techniques – Discover how to layer, quilt, and finish your project with crisp, professional-looking edges.

Included with your course fees:

• All materials and fabrics are included in the cost of the workshop, for the patchwork you can choose form our selection of scraps or bring your favorite scraps from home.
• 6 hours of expert in-studio instruction + use of premium tools and equipment including our brand NEW NECCHI Creator sewing machines

Don't forget to add your workshop dates to your calendar as soon as you have registered. About a week prior to your workshop you will receive an email outlining further details of the workshop including what you will learn, what you need to bring, and our cancellation policy. The email will also include our class waiver that will need to be signed online prior to attending the workshop.

At the studio we allow water and light snacks around the cutting table and sewing machines, other types of drinks and larger snacks can be enjoyed in our store sitting area. Cell phones, devices are great learning tools, you are welcome to bring and use them.

Full payment of the workshop is required at the time of registration to reserve your spot. Participants must be 14 years of age or older to participate on their own in the workshop unless otherwise stated. Participants between the ages of 14-17 must have a parent or guardian sign their liability waiver. Participants between the ages 8 - 13 years of age can participate in the workshop as long as a paying adult participating as well. 

Cancellation policy 

• Full Refund: Available for cancellations made more than 7 days before the workshop date.
• 50% Refund or Transfer: For cancellations made between 3 to 7 days prior to the workshop, you have the option of receiving a 50% refund or transferring your spot to the next available workshop. If there is no complimentary workshop you will receive a 50% refund. 
• No Refund/Transfer: Cancellations within 48 hours of the workshop date will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.

DEBUT workshops are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

Workshop spots are transferable, if you are unable to make your workshop, send a friend! Call or text us to let us know of the switch.
