Get cozy with quilting in this beginner-friendly project class taught by Erin Gilkes, our multiple 5-star reviewed sewing instructor. While making your very own patchwork pillow, you’ll learn how to piece together a patchwork design, create a quilt “sandwich,” add quilting, and finish it off with binding.
Choose from our curated collection of small fabric pieces to design a one-of-a-kind pillow that’s uniquely yours. This small-scale project is an easy, rewarding introduction to quilting techniques—perfect for making something memorable and unique, whether you use our fabrics or incorporate pieces that hold special meaning—while creating a beautiful addition to your home.

Required pre-requisite:
- Adult learn-to-sew prerequisite course, or
- Basic proficiency on a sewing machine
You should already know how to:
- Thread a sewing machine
- Sew using straight stitches and zig-zag stitches and techniques such as back stitching and edge stitching.
You will learn:
- Patchwork basics – how to cut and piece fabric into a design.
- Quilt “sandwich” assembly – layering quilt top, batting, and backing.
- Quilting techniques – stitching through all layers to add texture and stability.
- Binding a quilted edge – creating a neat, professional finish.
- Pillow construction – turning your quilted piece into a functional, cozy pillow.
Included with your course fees:
- All materials and fabrics are included in the cost of the workshop, for the patchwork you can choose form our selection of scraps or bring your favorite scraps from home.
- 6 hours of expert in-studio instruction + use of premium tools and equipment including our brand NEW NECCHI Creator sewing machines

Don't forget to add your workshop dates to your calendar as soon as you have registered. About a week prior to your workshop you will receive an email outlining further details of the workshop including what you will learn, what you need to bring, and our cancellation policy. The email will also include our class waiver that will need to be signed online prior to attending the workshop.

At the studio we allow water and light snacks around the cutting table and sewing machines, other types of drinks and larger snacks can be enjoyed in our store sitting area. Cell phones, devices are great learning tools, you are welcome to bring and use them.

Full payment of the workshop is required at the time of registration to reserve your spot. Participants must be 14 years of age or older to participate on their own in the workshop unless otherwise stated. Participants between the ages of 14-17 must have a parent or guardian sign their liability waiver. Participants between the ages 8 - 13 years of age can participate in the workshop as long as a paying adult participating as well.
Cancellation policy
- Full Refund: Available for cancellations made more than 7 days before the workshop date.
- 50% Refund or Transfer: For cancellations made between 3 to 7 days prior to the workshop, you have the option of receiving a 50% refund or transferring your spot to the next available workshop. If there is no complimentary workshop you will receive a 50% refund.
- No Refund/Transfer: Cancellations within 48 hours of the workshop date will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
DEBUT workshops are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Workshop spots are transferable, if you are unable to make your workshop, send a friend! Call or text us to let us know of the switch.
