This course is designed to equip beginners and those familiar with basic sewing with the essential skills to mend and beautify their beloved textile items. Throughout the sessions, you will learn not only to repair but to creatively enhance your clothing and textiles, making them stronger and more resilient.

Course Outline:

Part 1: Introduction to basic hand sewing and mending techniques such as darning, patching, binding, and Sashiko + hands-on practice.

Part 2: Apply what you've learned to your own projects, with guidance and support from experienced instructors.

You should already know how to:

• Thread a needle 

You will learn:

• Foundational stitches and hand stitching techniques 
• Fundamental mending techniques to repair and reinforce your beloved garments
• Gain the confidence to assess damage and choosing the right technique to mend your garment, ensuring results that are both functional and strikingly beautiful

Don't forget to add your workshop dates to your calendar as soon as you have registered. About a week prior to your workshop you will receive an email outlining further details of the workshop including what you will learn, what you need to bring, and our cancellation policy. The email will also include our class waiver that will need to be signed online prior to attending the workshop.

At the studio we allow water and light snacks around the cutting table and sewing machines, other types of drinks and larger snacks can be enjoyed in our store sitting area. Cell phones, devices are great learning tools, you are welcome to bring and use them.

Full payment of the workshop is required at the time of registration to reserve your spot. Participants must be 14 years of age or older to participate on their own in the workshop unless otherwise stated. Participants between the ages of 14-17 must have a parent or guardian sign their liability waiver. Participants between the ages 8 - 13 years of age can participate in the workshop as long as a paying adult participating as well. 

Cancellation policy 

Our cancellation policy will change as of April 8th 2024. Changes to the policy help us to provide a better experience to all of our clients. Below is our new class cancellation policy that will take into effect as of April 8th 2024. 

- Full Refund: Available for cancellations made more than 7 days before the workshop date.
- 50% Refund or Transfer: For cancellations made between 3 to 7 days prior to the workshop, you have the option of receiving a 50% refund or transferring your spot to the next available workshop. If there is no complimentary workshop you will receive a 50% refund. 
- No Refund/Transfer: Cancellations within 48 hours of the workshop date will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.

DEBUT workshops are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

Workshop spots are transferable, if you are unable to make your workshop, send a friend! Call or text us to let us know of the switch.
